Arnita- Natural vegetable tie & dye pure Tussar silk saree
₹14,200.00₹13,000.00Saree Description : This saree is a 100 percent handwoven Tye-Dye Tussar Silk. All the tye-dye tussar silks from our collection are made out of 100 percent natural vegetable colours. The body of this saree is dyed in a rich golden-yellow hue. This particular colour has been extracted from turmeric. The usage of turmeric becomes apparent from the ‘kacha holud’ (raw turmeric) hue rendered to the sarees body. The border of the saree is dyed in the prettiest onion pink. This colour is extracted from Lac, an insect found in India and parts of South Asian. Arnita in Sanskrit means ‘golden sun rays’. Owing to its colour palette, we named this saree, the same. Wearing Arnita would be like wrapping yourself up with the warm golden rays of sun, before the sun turns onion pink at dusk. Now who wouldn’t want to own a slice of heaven like this for themselves?! -

₹16,950.00Saree Description: 100 percent hand woven, this Pure Tussar Silk Kantha Stitch is a quaint piece of marvel. The base of this saree is handwoven out of authentic “Gheeya’ Tussar Silk. This ‘gheeya’ base, forms an exquisite golden canvas for the intricate hand embroidered kantha stitch. The attention of detail of our artisans become apparent from the embroidered patterns of small red flower buds with green stem and leaves. The minimalism of embroidery of the body of this saree, is an optimum contrast to its dense pallu and its borders. Further, the ‘Jhiri Raan Stitch’ of the border of the pallu adds to the beauty of the embroidery, along with the tiny ‘Paisley’ patterns to go with it. Arundhati in Sanskrit happens to be a name of a star. This saree hence is an ode to the unsung stardom of the everyday women of our regular lives. Babu bibi 3- Original-Bengal Pattachitra
₹7,000.00In the 19th century, Kolkata (then Calcutta) was the thriving capital of British India. As the city continued to flourish, it gave rise to a new class of locals- the Babus and the Bibis. The Bengali Babus were educated in English, enjoyed a western lifestyle, patronised arts and culture and indulged in personal grooming and fashion. They also made some questionable decisions in their personal and professional lives, but that is a different matter! The wives of the Babus, popularly called the Bibis, took a keen interest in fashion to the extent of incorporating French and English elements in their wardrobe. Although they were not the empowered women we ideally want to see, they received some opportunity to study and explore the outside world, making them more progressive than their female ancestors. Bengal Pattachitra paintings are priceless collectibles. The pattachitra painting is an art form that originated in 19th century Bengal, in the vicinity of Kali Temple in Kolkata and is considered to be one of the earliest forms of pop art in India.
